Are Premier League fans ignorant when it come to Football League clubs?

Well I am a Liverpool supporter, but I live in the US. We only get Premier League on tv unless it's the FA or Carling cups. The only way I know about all the lower leagues is through following the tables online and through football manager games. I am trying to choose a Blue Square P/N/S team to support. I think I am leaning towards Welling, however I do like AFC Wimbledon as well.
